| Brilliantly performed, and very moving, these rare Dicken's monlogues performed by Simon Callow transport us back to a period when times were hard and life cheap - for many in this world that's sadly still the case today - but through Dicken's skillful writing and Callow's mastery of the stage the humour, the life affirming humour, that sustains all of us in dark times shines through. A terrific evening at the theatre. This must get a West End transfer. - CJM | 28 Jan 10 | |
| Fascinating stories that educate you in the Victorian era and how society remains as discriminating as it was in times of yore.Simon Callow is a master of Dickens and just requires a little more time to expand the characters more fully. He however demonstrates what a supreme actor he is. - david turner | 16 Dec 09 |
