| Saw the show on the evening of Saturday 25th March. Brilliant acting, genuine laugh-out-loud moments, in fact tears of laughter on several occasions, Harold & Albert are back! Fans of 'Allo 'Allo will be pleased; you've got to see the show to find out. I hope it goes on tour after the London run. A maximum 5 stars because the audience was fantastic, including someone blessed with one of those hilarious one-off laughs. - 62.255.32.15) | 03 Apr 06 | |
| Went to see this last night 25 March, bit slow to start but a lot of good laughs. We sat 4 rows from the front in the stalls and could see the actors faces well, the old mans likeness to Wilfred Bramble was amazing, he had all his facial expressions down to an art form. The Harold character was a good likeness too, especially his voice. Plot a bit corny but it was a fun evening. I think would not be so good if you had not ween the original tv show because a lot of the fun was in the comparisons. - 62.254.64.17) | 26 Mar 06 | |
| To be honest, this is really a 3 and a half star review: the first half is really quite laboured and goes against the fundamental reality of situations that made the TV series so irresistible. Stick with it though, as Act 2 is an absolute joy: laugh-out-loud funny and with a very touching coup de theatre at the end....it really is like watching one of the best episodes. Jake Nightingale as Harold and Harry Dickman as Albert are uncannily like the originals, and there is a lovely cameo by Alyson Coote as a would-be love interest. The cluttered, atmospheric set is wonderfully evocative of the TV show. - 195.82.123.181) | 17 Mar 06 | |
| Dreadful! What was Ray Galton thinking of? - 84.67.20.140) | 26 Feb 06 | |
| I came out of the theatre with a good smile - not the greatest show ever but a good entertaing evening in the theatre that leaves you feeling better when you leave than when you arrive - 88.105.36.140) | 24 Feb 06 | |
| I enjoyed the TV series, but this is a pale imitation of the quality of writing. Much of Act 1 drags, despite sterling performances from the two leads, and the comedy feels like a 30 minute TV script dragged out over two hours. - 84.66.30.183) | 24 Feb 06 | |
| I have been a big fan of Steptoe & Son, since i was a small boy. I was thrilled that one of my favourite TV Comedies, was going to be on a West End stage. Jake Nightingale truly delivered as Harold Steptoe, as soon as he spoke the audience cheered, he sounded exactly like the one played by Harry H Corbett, it's a fantastic performance. Harry Dickman made a great Albert Steptoe capturing the facial expessions of Wilfred Brambell's Steptoe. The rest of the cast were very good, and got there share of laughs in an extremley funny script. I really felt i was watching a Christmas special of Steptoe & Son. The Production Values were excellent, recreating the look of the show. The first half is funny, but the second half is hilairious. The Ending is a fitting conclusion to a much missed TV Show. - 195.93.21.38) | 18 Feb 06 |
