| I am dependent on a wheelchair and my personal assistant telephoned to try and book tickets for the afternoon show 'Hit me; The life and rhymmes of Ian Drury' on Saturday. She was told that because of the fact that there were no more spaces on the ground level and the only other seats were inaccesible for people in wheelchairs, we would be unable to buy tickets for the show. Granted it was short notice but it just served as yet another reminder of the fact that disabled people are unable to do anything spontaeneously. I wonder what Ian Drury would make of this ludicrous situation. - Catherine Roberts | 16 Feb 09 | |
| Adrian Shiller is FANTASTIC, especially after all the fannying about with the sisagreements, sackings, offenders and media coverage. Josh D'arcy is perfectly cast too... a superb combination which will only get better as time goes on. An interesting biograph and amazing portrayal too... whether Dury fan or not. Highly recommended... though not for the faint hearted... more Fs and Cs than the football league at times, making Jerry Springer The Opera look more like The Merry Widow! That said, this show is fanfucketytastic! - Chod | 12 Jan 09 | |
| It was a bit of a technical mess at the third preview, but then again they had changed lead actors just days before (if it continues to over-run leaving 30 mins between shows the new one won't last long!). The play could do with some structural work and some editing, but it certainly captures the essense of this iconic figure and Adrian Schiller's performance is outstanding, with the singing to backing track working surprisingly well. I suspect it will get better, so it's to be recommended (provided you don't mind as many C words as Jerry Springer - The Opera!). - Gareth James | 10 Jan 09 |
