starstarstarstarstarAbsolutely brilliant. have seen lts of musicals and this was one of my favourite. Cant see why it has been slated by the press. ring on shows like this - dont need to have a complicated story. Lots of laughs and great dancing!! - 81.79.16.109)17 Oct 04
starIf only I could give it a zero. Walked out at the interval and considered doing so before that! Absolute crap. Avoid - 62.252.0.10)12 Oct 04
starstarstarstarstarSaw Murderous Instincts on press night. Was not expecting a high standard. However, what a delight! Refreshingly funny with a zany storyline. The audience from what I could tell loved it and the laughter all around was proof enough. I shall definitely go again. Most enjoyable with a cast and chorus who all put everything in. I think some of the critics must not have been watching, or they were just going on the previous press which this show had received prior to opening. - 81.79.146.139)11 Oct 04
starShame there's no option for a 0 rating. So bad we left in the first interval, and have NEVER done that before! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.157.227.82)11 Oct 04
starCan I give it -0? This show is proof that Max Bialystock is alive and well, though he changed his name. He is now called Manny Fox. To paraphrase "The Producers" what Manny Fox has done to musical theater, Brutus did to Cesar. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (24.51.204.189)10 Oct 04
starAbsolute rubbish! I was embarrassed for the cast and the audience alike. So bad it won't even achieve cult status, it is just terrible. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (62.252.192.13)09 Oct 04
starThe management of the Savoy Theatre must have been desperate - or else they were over eager to grab the "Firestone fortune" money: it is a real shame that some people will be paying money to see this trash on the west end stage. Mr & Mrs Manny Fox should be deported for such criminal activities! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (81.137.223.68)08 Oct 04
starHad it been an amateur school play - with my daughter in one of the lead roles - I would have been proud (for her sake)... ..but a West End Production?! Set and lighting looked appalling. Script and direction (if any) were weak beyond belief. The characterisations were pathetic - Avoid the Savoy at all cost until this venture collapses! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.93.34.14)08 Oct 04
starIf there was 0 star this one would merit it I'm afraid. I can't think what Nicola McAuliffe is doing in this twaddle. It would never have reached the West End on merit. It seems the script was done on a drunken 'cut and paste' basis. I'm sorry to be negative about any London theatre but this is surely a vanity spree on someones part. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.184.237.34)08 Oct 04
starDepressingly dreadful. Very poor production values. The whole venture is an embarrassment to the West End stage. How can a musical be presented with no director credited? Put the cast out of their misery and close the show at the weekend. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (81.137.223.68)08 Oct 04
starstarstarstarstarGreat evening - Great Fun, great music and great dancing. There is no thinking involved, with a storyline that we all know but who cares, this is just about having a good high energy Salsa laugh. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (139.149.1.194)08 Oct 04
starvery poor. the storyline was weak and predictable to say the least and the songs sounded more like entries from primary school, trying to maker lyrics rhyme irrespective of whether they were relevant or not. the dancing was impressive and there was one good song but I can think of a hundred ways I would rather spend a Saturday evening. Sorry guys as I'm sure you were trying your hardest. It just wasn't up to West End standards, - USER: Whatsonstage.com (62.69.52.52)04 Oct 04
starLame lame lame. I actually felt quite embarrassed for the cast at the end. The appalling acting and storyline were just links to average songs. If you don't trust my opinion then fine, but given the full, Saturday night audience, the applause at the end was nothing but tepid - not even one encore. I stayed to clap...but only for the benefit of the band, and the talented, hard working dance extras. Why oh why do the producers of this show think that the audience will sit on increasing numbing behinds, enduring 2 hours of dross, just for a 5 minute 'big finish'. So glad I didn't have to pay for my ticket! I am afraid to say that Murderous Instincts is nothing but a predictable, naff production....and perhaps one of the reasons why people are staying away from the West End. Not sure where all the 4 and 5s have come from on the other reviews...must have been either cast members or sycophantic associates of the production company. Don’t waste your money on this lemon! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (82.35.107.195)03 Oct 04
starstarstari went to see this last night and really enjoyed it as well - but i do have to agree, i'm not sure where this julio actor guy came from, but he is rubbish. i couldn't understand a word of what he said in his dialogue, so thought, perhaps he might redeem himself when he sings. alas he didn't - wasn't particularly tuneful and couldn't hear his words then either. so i thought maybe he was just an amazing dancer - but again was disappointed. its a shame as the rest of the cast are really good. an excellent light hearted musical that really made me laugh out loud! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.92.67.75)29 Sep 04
starstarstarstarstarJust thought I'd tell you all how bloomin wonderful I thought Murderous Instincts was tonight. Have read some bad press about the show and so was regrettin agreeing to go and see it. Wow, was i wrong. Its just beautiful - musical theatre at its best. Though the story was silly and yes a LOT predictable, the actors sang the music wonderfully and boy did I laugh out loud in parts. Listening to the audience - they loved it! The music is wonderful! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.92.67.75)28 Sep 04
starstarstarstarstarSaw it tonight - oh my god its brilliant! What a laugh - your right, its totally hilarious and the voices - my GOD they were good. This show was great in Norwich but now its just that little bit classier! Im going again, I love - its one of the best things on offer right now, its just plain silly and a great night out. I reckon the Savoy will see record numbers of visitors this christmas with Murderous Insticts now making its home there! What a brilliant show and for once, completely original, wonderful music and a REALLY strong cast. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.92.67.78)28 Sep 04
starSaw this show in Norwich. After having read Nichola Macauliffes article in the Daily Mail, a lot of things fell into place.Numerous sackings probably explain the feeling of the whole thing being hurriedly thrown together, rather like a badly -made souffle, that finally surprises and thrills right at the end.Nichola was right to speak out, I feel a lot more sympathetic now I Know the score. Her humour shone through an otherwise tedious ,lacklustre script.Keep her, get much more Salsa into the show, get the timing right please cast.Lets hear much more of those two excellent singing voices, kick out the smutty attempts at humour. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.92.67.75)19 Sep 04
starstarstarstarstarSaw the show in Norwich with my wife and another couple, we all thoroughly enjoyed it as did all the audience that night.Excellent musical the Salsa dancing was superb and made you quite out of breath just watching it songs were hummable and all in all the whole thing equated to a great night out. Hey you Londoners, dont miss this A1 show, go and see, if this show doesn't get packed houses in the West End then there's something wrong, a brilliant, brilliant night's entertainment. A great night out for all the family look out London you've got a great show coming your way, you'll be fools to miss it!! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.93.34.14)09 Sep 04
starstarstarstarstarA completely wonderful show. Thoroughly enjoyed it! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.92.168.163)07 Sep 04
starstarstarI'm afraid I couldn't quite make up my mind about this one. The plot is very thick in the first half, not difficult to swallow, but quite tedious in the telling. Some of the songs are good, but most are unnecessary, and the Salsa is only a superfluous action to cover up otherwise dull songs or scene changes. However, the performances are enthusiastic and overall it's quite entertaining. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (80.3.128.6)06 Sep 04
starstarstarstarstarI saw this show in Norwich prior to its run in London. All I can say is you must go and see it. The show is saucy, zany and ridiculous but it all fits together! None of the musical numbers are particularly memorable but the cast give 100% and you will come out of the show with all a spring in your step. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.161.95.133)06 Sep 04
starstarstarstarA fantastic show! Its so fresh, the dancing is exciting and choreographed to a wonderful score which has great variety. The energy of the performers really came through, making the show even more enjoyable. It also had me in fits of laughter! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (81.131.101.74)05 Sep 04
