| How has this play lasted so long? I have seen far better amateur dramatics. Absolutely NO atmosphere and I really didn't care 'who done it' - Flossie. | 30 Jan 13 | |
| The Mousetrap is as much part of London's tourist itinerary as Westminster Abbey, Buckingham Palace, the Eye, etc. which can be the only reason this dated relic of a bygone age has lasted for sixty years with no signs of ever closing. Whatever the faults with her writing style and characterisations Agatha Christie had a genious for intricate plots but this is nowhere near her best and it creaks as much as some of the acting. The Cliffs Pavilion's notorious acoustics played havoc with the sound meaning that the cast had to be artificially amplified but the only mystery is how this old fossil can have survived all the developments in theatre during those last sixty years, - David Baxter | 30 Jan 13 |
