 | Saw the original version of this in Las Vegas. Was really looking forward to the British version. I have to say, surprisingly, the American version was a lot better. There are changes to this version that raised an eyebrow. You will never have a hit musical without a Jew, was changed to star. The Jewish reference was very valid and very funny, but changing it to "Star" took all the sting out of the number. References to Cheryl Cole, X-Factor and Simon Cowell are also here. Why? A lame attempt to make this production "current" a few instances where this falls short. 3 stars is a fair rating, but could/should of been more. - Middletonduff | 26 May 12 |
