 | I had my long-anticipated opportunity to catch up with Shared Experience's latest offering at the tiny Soho Theatre last night. It's a wonderful evening: thought-provoking, funny, visually dazzling and very nearly trail-blazing. (Not completely original, though, since there's rather a lot of Mill On The Flossery in it. | It's so exciting when Shared Experience are in full flight, and Rebecca Gatward's direction is well and truly in the house style. Performances were uniformly excellent, the use of the tiny Soho Theatre space was exemplary, and Bryony Lavery's adaptation came cross as vivid, witty and relevant. A slight sense of déjà vu prevents me from offering a five-star clean sweep (it is a little like Mill On The Floss revisited at times), but it's still one of the most rewarding shows I've seen in recent months. - USER: Whatsonstage.com | 01 Feb 02 |
