| would rather thrust oriental dissemboweling cutlasses and red hot knitting needles into the loving eyes of my pet dog than sit through interminable, abject and inadaquate performance. | I may not be a connoisseur of stage dramas, but I have read the previous reviews, and can’t help wondering if they were taken under protest to see the show. I went to see it on 17th feb and was impressed with the simplicity of the set and the portrayal of the story. Joe Mcgann was excellent as the simple-minded Lennie. Andrew Scholfield portrayed his character with feeling. The audience laughed at Lennies antics but also felt his hurt and misunderstanding. Due to the ovation given at the end I have to assume that the rest of the audience agreed with me, that this tale was well orchestrated from the scenery to the characters.
