| I meant to give it 2* (for the acting-nothing else) but the WOS code thing confounded me. This is to level things out. - kilburncat | 04 Apr 08 | |
| The cast play (rather well) a multiplicity of characters who aim for British citizenship by attending classes to enable them to pass the test. There are questions from the test, some which aren't in the test, a puzzling and seemingly irrelevant interspersing episode involving a terrorist and a man undergoing cold turkey, a Serbian or Russian woman and her daughter/husband, a difference of opinion between the teacher and an Egyptian student, and some offside dinner party commentary from guests who are just like David Edgar's friends. If it sounds like a mess then it sounds right. It was difficult to work out where the writer was coming from or where he was going. Nowhere I'm afraid. It is probably supposed to be thought provoking, unfortunately it is more mind-numbing. - kilburncat | 04 Apr 08 |
