starstarstarstarstarI can't remember the last time I laughed as much at a show as I did almost all the way through Forbidden Broadway. A top notch cast of four with genuine musical theatre talent race through a series of brilliant parodies of a staggering range of shows complete with great choreography and amazing costumes (with lightning fast changes). It's almost impossible to pick out favourites, although Annie, Billy Elliott, Oliver and the Lion King were hysterical and the first half closed with a Les Mis spoof which brought the house down. There were also spot-on impressions of, amongst others, Hannah Waddingham, Elaine Paige and Idina Menzel (defying subtlety). Perhaps the second half was not quite as good as the first - even spoof Sondheim is a bit dull - but this was a hilarious couple of hours. In New York the show was constantly updated and ran for years; I really hope it can find a suitable home in the West End (Leicester Square?) or parhaps it can become a regular visitor to the Chocolate Factory. It would be a desperate waste of a fantastic show if this is the last London sees of Forbidden Broadway. - David Baxter31 Aug 09

starstarstarstarThough I think it pulls more punches in the first half than the second, this really is a hoot. The more knowledge you have of musicals the more you'll enjoy it, though even with a limited knowledge you'll still have fun. The hugely talented cast and clearly having a ball and it's infectious. Loved it! - Gareth James30 Jul 09
starstarstarstarstarA terrific piece of entertainment by a dazzling talented cast and pianist. I laughed and marvelled at the slick direction and rich parodies. Could have sat through another hour. - Carrie21 Jul 09
starstarstarstarstarBeg, steal or borrow to get a ticket. I have wanted to see Forbidden Broadway for the last 2 years and 2 aborted visits to New York and the termination of the run over there meant I thought I was going to be disappointed. Then I saw it reviewed in one of the free papers (**Sorry**) and knew I just had to get a ticket. I haven't laughed as much in years - great cast, wonderful voices, a great location and sensibly priced tickets. What more can I say. - Aden Gunston08 Jul 09
