Mrs Ruskin (Warehouse Theatre, Outer London)

| Terribly boring and often incompetent play about John Ruskin. There is no sign of any direction, the writing goes over and over the same point endlessly (we know the writer's agenda from the first sentence and she never strays from it or allows any ambiguity). This is lifeless, amateurish theatre and a small-minded poke at a man who, though he may not have been the world's best husband, was a paragon of aesthetic taste. He'd be rolling in his grave if he saw this ugly mess! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (213.122.141.3) | 18 Sep 03 |
