starstarstarstarMore predictable, with more belly-laughs, but the least original of the three. I can see why Sir Alan is grumpy about the producer's decision to play this 7 times a week and the other two once each. It misses the point entirely and deprives theatre-goers of an enriching experience and wonderful performances by Alison Pargeter (and I suspect deprives the actors of job satisfaction too). - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.211.88.14)03 Dec 02
starstarstarstarstarI had no expectations of the play because I hadn't read any reviews. The result? Loved it! Hilarious! Full review at http://www.analyticalq.com/journal/j021010.htm - USER: Whatsonstage.com19 Oct 02
starstarstarThis is vintage Ayckbourn, nothing new here but extremely enjoyable all the same. The youngsters are outstanding, particularly Alison Pargeter as Paige, taking into account the fact that they have to perform three separate plays, RolePlay being (so far) the only one that I have seen. From my fourth row stalls seat I found the first ten minutes or so almost inaudible, the audience were getting very restless, fortunately everything suddenly 'took off' and the laughs came thick and fast. So, OK - nothing new except the cast, predictable ending and so on and so forth but a very enjoyable evening just the same, this is for those of us who want to relax and enjoy the evening without too much soul searching and angst getting in the way. All in all a very enjoyable time,I left the theatre feeling that I had had a great time out, chuckling all the way home as I recalled lines and scenes - isn't this what a fun and relaxing evening is all about? On the strength of this I shall certainly return to see the other two parts of 'Damsels in Distress'. - USER: Whatsonstage.com17 Sep 02
