| A civilised treat. What a joy to hear and see a play with such brilliant dialogue, so wonderfully acted. All of the three principals were wonderful, but the production was dominated by the extraordinary stage presence of Patricia Routledge. Her combination of gentle mischief and spiritual conviction was exactly right to suggest the complex personality of Dame Laurentia. And how beautiful are her diction and her speech rhythms. Michael Pennington and Roy Dotrice gave superb support, but seemed aware they were being out-gunned. - 213.122.25.85) | 10 May 06 | |
