| Terrible. The production is like a nightmare on Sesame street. It's so juvenile. About as shocking as being attacked by a toothless Chihuahua. Beautiful playing and singing but at ENO's prices just not worth it. Not helped by a more than half-empty Coliseum with all the atmosphere of a funeral home. - Susan | 11 Oct 12 | |
| Actually - for me and two other friends - none of us young and all well-acquainted with the opera - who saw this production - a wonderful evening; imaginative, funny, entertaining and infinitely moving. The music, of course, helped. (An understatement.) I find a lot of the naysaying for this production both stuffy, unimaginative and mean. (Reviewers reviewed.) - Penelope Jane | 06 Oct 12 | |
| Terrible production. Awful and repetitive writhing and handwringing from the dancers detracts from the singing which fortunately is marvellous as is the orchestral playing. We felt sorry for the cast. Will ENO never learn? - Geoffrey | 03 Oct 12 | |
| One star and that is for the music. One of the few evenings, where I ended up wishing I had stayed at home. What utter rubbish ............ - Annette Olsen | 03 Oct 12 |
