starstarstarstarIt is nice to see mature actors fighting to get it right in a mature relationship. Excelent acting. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (62.255.64.5)05 May 03
starstarstarI saw this a few months ago at the Southwark Playhouse and my companion and I were both impressed by Ann Mitchell and Simon Callow - particular the former, for her tough, tender and moving performance. And Callow IS good, as a rough, tough-talking bastard, who lets his guard down once in the now well-known bath scene. The play leaves you wondering why some people are willing (or resigned) to take such a verbal, mental and physical battering in relationships, so it left its mark on me as I travelled home. As for the nudity, it's nothing to get excited about... and if Simon Callow has no qualms about the scene (which is important in the context of the relationship), neither should the audience. Clearly, some audience members in Southwark weren't expecting it, and a slight frisson went through the crowd. For me, the rabbit skinning scenes were far more unsettling than the sight of Simon Callow's tackle! Andrew B - USER: Whatsonstage.com (193.130.127.205)01 May 03
starstarstarI have to admit, I wasn't really very engaged by this at all. The acting was fine but it just didn't suck me in and I felt nothing for the male character, played by Simon Callow. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (80.193.222.20)30 Apr 03
