 | Faultless as was the following act, of this two parter, Sheridan's The Critic. A master class in acting from the extraordinary Richard McCabe - he can act the likes of Simon Russell Beale of the stage with ease and just a look! He is sensational as Puff in The Critic and I make the reference to SRB because McCabe, I believe, would have topped SRB as Sir Harcourt Courtney in London Assurance. I haven't stayed put in my seat for a long while wishing the whole thing would start over again. If I go through and name the other excellent performances this will review will just become the cast list. If you can get, or beg, or borrow a seat to SEE these two wonderful productions do so - they MUST get a West End transfer. SENSATIONAL! - rds | 19 Aug 10 |
