| I knew this couldn't possibly be as good as the book (which I coincidentally read two weeks ago), but I never expected it to be this bad. The script was ridiculous. All the subtlety and depth of the main characters was lost. These were more like caricatures from a farce. Great Expectations, the book, is a fine treasure and this overdone script and production trampled it under the huge clopping shoes of the actors. So sad. Such a waste. - Andrea Studebaker | 23 Mar 13 | |
| I was looking forward to seeing this stage adaptation but left at the interval having been very disappointed. The set overpowers the stage and you get bored after a while with the same direction and the over acting and shouting. Maybe we were too close on the third row. Sorry. - Stuart | 22 Feb 13 | |
| This production greatly exceeded my expectations and as a frequent theatregoer I thought the adaptation was thrilling, with a wonderful gothic, almost Tim Burton style, to it, and some very clever direction. - Kevin Darnell | 17 Feb 13 | |
| A refreshing & original take on a classic. I really enjoyed the faster pace of this play & the comedy moments. Having seen it (too) many times in movies and on television, the play presented it in a very refreshing way & I loved the flamboyance of the costumes & characters. I recommend to theatre lovers & novices alike. - Isabel Scott | 09 Feb 13 | |
| Very disappointing. Over the top acting with characters and costumes that are more Alice in Wonderland than Charles Dickens. Scenery and special effects not particularly imaginative. It's only 2 hours long but it felt twice that. - Theatre Fan | 07 Feb 13 |
