starstari love frank sinatra's music, but i found this show dull and boring. my husband and i was very close to leaving mid way. clever technical projections etc but how many times can you see dancers to obscure songs? which also was culturally inaccurate in many places. way too many dancers on a very small stage, too many things going on at once on the stage and gave me a stiff neck. dont bother, first show i'd seen in years that made we want to leave. only at the end songs did it get a bit more interesting. - 84.13.24.30)16 Aug 06
starstarstarstarstarGreat show, songs, singers, dancers, band and production. Love it. Have seen it 13 times up to now, and am looking forward to the Christmas show. Brilliant. Thanks and best wishes to the cast. May the show keep running for a long time to come. - 62.25.106.209)27 Oct 05
starstarstarstarstarvery entertaining, two and half hours just fly by. great humour, great songs, good performances and fantastic live big band sound - 62.255.64.10)15 Sep 05
starstarstarstarstarBrilliant show - but PLEASE KEEP THE CAST AS IT IS. We don't want Lemar or Alex Bourne back again. It cast is perfect. Change it and the show will lose a lot of fans and money and close. - 217.154.72.213)06 Jun 05
starstarstarstarstar Brilliant ! thoroughly enjoyed the music and the singers .. I live in Australia, so ufnrotunately I cannot go and see this again ! - 203.14.46.142)12 May 05
starstarstarstarstarI have read all of the comments below with both great amusement and of course a certain amount of anger. I used to look on this site quite often, but having made my comments on how wonderful the show is and how wonderful all of the cast and understudies are did not rush back. A friend of mine who checks here quite regularly and suggested I take a look. So for the record as of tonight I will have actually seen the show 162 times, I have seen brilliant productions of the show in Toronto and managed to take in a few of the sights whilst there, I have also seen the show in Munich which was I have to say just a flying visit. I have taken numerous friends to see the show, as well as one or two people who regularly accompany me, my mother for one, who all adore the show. We have as I think it was Dott said occasionally made comments about a show not being perhaps as good as the last time we saw it, or perhaps that whomever was not in such good voice on that particular evening, we have of course over the last few weeks surmised as to when Stephen Triffitt would be back in the show and wondered how Gilz would compare to David Hayes. Loving the show as I do and enjoying every performance I have seen with the exception of one when I really should have stayed home in bed I would never dream of saying anything derogatory, rude or insulting about any member of the cast. I am sure you all think me completely mad and as you say in need of mental help, all of which has been said by my friends over the last two plus years, but as long as I continue to enjoy the music, the show and the performances I will continue to take my seat. I work bloody hard and quite often after a lousy day at work or having attended a really boring meeting in Central London I will happily nip into the theatre and chill out before heading home as is my prerogative as a paying member of the public. How I spend “my hard earned cash” is entirely up to me. As for stalking, well I haven’t camped on anyone’s doorstep or followed them home. I will admit to having bestowed a birthday or Christmas pressie or two for which I have been thanked graciously, and I have also shared a drink or two with the utterly charming and professional people in the show who work so hard to keep us all so brilliantly entertained. I think if they thought me mad, bad or seriously dangerous to know they would drink elsewhere and completely ignore me. I hope you all continue to enjoy the show as I do except as one or two have already said when the drunken karaokers are in. - 80.46.69.154)14 Feb 05
starstarstarstarstarI have to say as an older lady I resent Arthur's remarks, as I have said before I have seen the show countless times and due to a bad back always sit in the front row. I have to say I agree with Paul why can't people just be allowed to enjoy a great show as many times as they want without fear of being lambasted on a website, I am sure if these people you refer to pay many to see the show as many times as you say they are hardly going to be nasty or run the cast down, I will admit I have seen the show on occasion when the show has not been as good as a previous vist and have openly said so, I wouldn't think this would warrent me be talked about on this website. Actaully even by making this post I feel that perhaps it is me and the rest of us that need to get a life if all we do is worry about other people and how many time they have seen the show. I love the show, I love the performers in the show and will continue to see it whenever possible, not matter what people feel like saying about me. - 80.46.69.154)14 Feb 05
starstarstarstarHave to say have read the last few reviews and cannot help to be somewhat amused by all the goings on, which must have passed me by. Like many others it would appear that I have seen the show on numerous occasions and like Helen the only people who have spoilt the show for me are the drunks who think it is kareoke (think I spelt that wrong)night. I am sure the lady who has seen Les Mes in numerous countries and if memory serves me correct another person has seen Phantom of the Opera over 500 times would take exception to your digs that these people need mental help, surely it is personal choice. I love to see the show and would like to see it more often but work, family and finances keep me away. Cannot see why you guys are so uptight about someone seeing the show so many times or why them sitting enjoying something that you obviously enjoy as much as me gets up your noses so much. Why can we all just enjoy the show in our own way and get on with it. Strikes me you must go an awful lot as well if you are seeing these people that annoy you so much. - 80.46.69.154)14 Feb 05
starstarstarThe women referred to are being talked about by the staff at the theatre and by other theatre goers because they do stalk the cast in the pub, do tell lies about them in the theatre and do follow them round the world. They should be told that their behaviour goes beyond normal theatre going when it goes to seeing a show over 180 times, they need to seek help to overcome their obsession. My wife and I enjoy this show but we find this situation very unpleasant and this was my original point - sorry if it came across as slightly cantankerous I am not a young man, but I would like to see this show without the opressive presence of Dolly Sinatra in the front row. - 213.235.7.4)14 Feb 05
starstarstarstarstarI agree totally that it does matter what the audience does,I have had the show ruined for me on many occasions by drunken theatre goers who beleive they can sing louder and better than the cast. This spoils the show far more for me than seeing the same faces sitting in the same seats. If it is the women I think you are refering to they simply sit in the front row, enjoy the show, applaud in the right places and do not sing along loudly or drunkenly. They are hardly youngsters who do not know how to behave and if they have the money to spend on the tickets and enjoy the show what is the rest of your problems. Just because people see things over and over again does not make them stalkers, would hardly think they look the dangerous or darranged types. Apart from the comments that you guys say they have made how have they spoilt the show for you, come on people who hasn't made comments about any show or film on the way out be it good bad or indiffernt. I love the show have seen it countless times but the only people who ruin it for me are the rowdy noisy ones. - 81.132.7.54)12 Feb 05
starstarstarstarstarI have enjoyed this show many times but I disagree with the comment below that it doesn't matter what the audience do. It does - as Monica says - when it detracts other peoples enjoyment of a show and brings a show into disrepute. No cast want stalkers - especially not if they are talking about them publicly where anyone can over hear them. It is not about bums on seats. It is about the quality of the theatre going experience and when we pay £45 a ticket I don't want to be upset by these people. I too know who they are and I wish they would stay away. Angela Lewis Angela - 195.147.99.194)12 Feb 05
starstarstarstarstarSaw the show AGAIN on saturday night and so glad I did it was David Hayes last night as Sammy and I would hate to have missed it. He has been wonderful and having spoken to him on a couple of occasions he is a real gent. Just a little aside to Arthur, I don't care who wants to see the show again and again or what they wear as long as there are bums on seats, and the show keeps packing them in it remains the success it rightly deserves to be, this is after all a place to post reviews of the show NOT the audience. Thought that this sight was being monitored for abuse - 80.46.69.154)07 Feb 05
starstarstarstarstarWell Arthur all I can say is I have seen the countless times and have seen a familiar face now and again. These must be pretty well heeled stalkers not only to be able to afford the ever rising ticket prices but also to be able to go to the pub as well! Did it never occur to you that those of us who have seen the show more than once and like to sit in or near the front might just enjoy a good show and a bit more leg room! - 80.46.69.154)07 Feb 05
starstarstarAlthough my wife and I like this show we are getting really fed up - as are other people by the looks of some of these reviews - of the dominant, attention seeking (and often half naked in their bustier tops) front row groupies. I too have heard they stalk the cast in the pub. The cast should be more careful of these women. They look like trouble to us. - 213.235.7.4)05 Feb 05
starstarstarstarstarMy brothers and I are great fans of Mark. He is an outstanding musical theatre actor who would make a very good Jean Valjean in Les Mis or any other West End show. He belongs in the theatre and we hope he doesn't go back to TV, we like seeing him on stage!! - 213.235.7.4)01 Feb 05
starstarstarWent to see this on Saturday night. What I had heard about this show beforehand is that the people in the audience are unlike other theatregoers. Never a truer word was said. I couldn't concentrate on the show. There were some very strange people there. This is not an ordinary West End show. It has a woman - according to one of the bar staff - who has seen the show over 150 times. She seriously needs mental health help because this show is only average at best. - 213.235.7.4)24 Jan 05
starstarstarstarstarWell said Dott. I wish some of Stephen's "fans" were as positive as you are. I wish Stephen a very speedy recovery and hope he has a good rest while he is off. Deannex - 213.235.7.4)04 Jan 05
starstarstarstarstar This is a terrific show which I have seen once or twice more than Rachel and would say that everyone in the show is a class act, including the understudies. I would also as one of Stephen’s fans like to jump to his defence, I to have been disappointed at Stephen Triffitt’s absence from the show, he has however sprained his ankle and whilst able to sing from a seated position is not able to dance up and down stairs on stage. - 81.132.6.251)03 Jan 05
starstarstarstarstarThis is a really great show which I have seen six times. But I - and many of his fans - are really getting fed up with Stephen Triffitt's non-appearances in this show, the last time I was angry to find out in order to do a celebrity bash for David Beckham which no doubt earned him a great big fat fee and publicity in newspapers and in magazines like Hello and OK. This was after he clearly told the fans that he was going to do all remaining Christmas shows and I bought tickets on the back of the commitment for me and my parents - he wasn't there. In direct contrast to the wonderful Mark Adams who was not due to appear that night - the 23rd December - but who came back and did the show. I met one or two fans that night and although I was very cross about Stephen not appearing those fans and I were very touched that Mark did that for us. Mark is a totally class act. And Stephen Triffitt needs to consider his fans more than his bank account, which must be bulging already. - 195.147.99.194)29 Dec 04
starstarstarstarstarBrilliant. But a VERY strange audience. Got the impression that most of these people don't normally go to other West End shows that this is their one outing. - 212.137.34.25)03 Dec 04
starstarstarstarstarIt is only 23rd November but having seen the Rat Pack Christmas show last night I am already in the festive spirit. Great fun, great songs and great performances. This really is a "Cool Yule"! - 80.46.69.154)23 Nov 04
starstarstarstarstarThe show just gets better and better whether you see it in London, Toronto or Munich. The show is the best it gets and will happily go back again and again and again. I just hope they keep extending it! - 195.99.164.6)09 Nov 04
starstarstarstarstarFinally, the extension to Rat Pack was announced yesterday -to 28th May 2005. Well done to all the casts here in London and currently in Toronto and Munich for making the show such a success. Haven't seen the show since August 16th (the DVD recording show) but hope it's still in good shape! - 212.137.57.25)02 Nov 04
starstarstarstarstarSaw the show on Tuesday 28th October. Took Mum with me so nostalgia for her. We were not dissapointed in any way. Both thought it was fantastic. Fab acting, fab dancing, fab singing, fab band. The music raised hairs on the neck. Would recommend to anyone. - 82.34.95.85)28 Oct 04
starstarstarstarstarA FANTASTIC NIGHT LAYS AHEAD FOR THE TUITES & CRITCHERS. I CAN SEE IT NOW - EDWARD & MARY TAKING THERE SEAT WITH A FORMAL WAVE TO THE AUDIENCE BELOW, ROY AND ANNE SWAYING TO THE RYTHM OF THE LADY IS A TRAMP. OOH WHAT A TIME THEY WILL HAVE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY EDWARD - 81.138.0.76)22 Oct 04
starstarstarstarstarI was in Vegas in 93 and stayed in the Sands hotel just to get the feel of what it would have been like when they were there. The feeling was gone and I was disappointed. In 98 I was back in Vegas when the news of Frank's death broke. I expected the whole town to be in mourning, but no. Anyway, last night made up for all my disappointment in Vegas because I saw it as it must have been back at the time when I was born. The cast (Chris Mann, David Hayes & Alex Bourne) were all terrific. No complaints. I got just what I expected - a wonderful big band night with the next best thing to the best swingers that ever lived. Why some of these reviews are so disparaging I can't imagine - just what were these people expecting???!! Go and enjoy! - 194.203.201.209)20 Oct 04
starstarstarThe band is what makes this show swing. The performers we were disappointed in. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (193.114.111.42)11 Oct 04
starstarstarstarstarSaw the Rat pack yesterday, it did not let us down, the whole audience loved the show, great atmos, great cast, would go again, they sure know how to swing ! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (213.122.23.46)10 Oct 04
starstarstarA tediously silly show, better ways to spend a Saturday night than this. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (193.114.111.42)27 Sep 04
starstarDisappointed in Alex Bourne's performance. Far too self-conscious and aware of his own looks. Dean Martin never gave a toss, he knew he was it! Alex is an attention seeker. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (193.114.111.42)27 Sep 04
starWe saw this again on Tuesday. It totally fell flat without Stephen Triffitt in it. This show has not been the same since the cast was changed in June and Stephen's understudy just wasn't very good. Also thought the Berelli Sisters weren't anywhere near as good as the originals. Ruth and I won't be going back. Alastair and Ruth - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.57.25)24 Sep 04
starstarstarSomeone on Stephen Triffitt's website has commented on the "chemistry" between him and the blonde Berelli Sister. I can't see it myself. And from what I've heard at the theatre, those four women currently in the cast are major bitches. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.57.25)07 Sep 04
starstarstarstarSeeing the Rat Pack live for the first time it seemed to me to be a well presented, well performed show providing two and a half hours of good music and nostalga. As compliation musicals go this is one of the best. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (80.43.110.154)02 Sep 04
starstarstarI went to see Anything Goes for the last time on Saturday night and as I came out there were people coming out of the Rat Pack. And there was a lady complaining about the cast. So I went to see the show for the first time last night and remembered what she said. I don't think it was unjustified either. Three performers doing three separate shows each vying for their own attention. Nothing like the real Rat Pack where everyone created one show. Too many egos. starstarstarstarstarI went last night (Monday) and absolutely loved it!!! 3 top notch performances. A fab night out... even on a Monday! Naomi - USER: Whatsonstage.com (81.77.55.12)24 Aug 04
starstarMy mum and I went on Saturday night and really, it wasn't very good. She knew the songs and the singers more than I did and she felt the actors didn't do them justice. From Hayley Bennett - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)24 Aug 04
starstarstarstarstarStephen and Mark weren't good, they were phenomenal. But I too was thrilled to see Gilz do this job. He's been one of my favourite actors since he did Rent and I agree he's the best thing by far in Jailhouse Rock. If we can't have George, Gilz is the perfect replacement for him. This surely was the A Team on Monday night. Deanne - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)20 Aug 04
starstarstarstarstarI too was at the recording on Monday and while Mark and Stephen were good, it was Gilz Terera who was absolutely incredible as Sammy Davis. I know he's giving the only performance worth watching in Jailhouse Rock at the moment, but he really MUST go into The Rat Pack full time as soon as possible! He really is the GREATEST SAMMY EVER, putting all others way in the shade (sorry George fans everywhere, but it's true!!) Lidya x - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.194.75.209)19 Aug 04
starstarstarstarstarThe show on Monday evening was one of the best shows Mark and Stephen have done ever, and I've seen this show right from the start of the West End run at the Haymarket. I haven't looked at this reviews section since June and I'm also amazed by the feedback of people who have been seeing the show in the past 6 weeks. What has been going on? Deanne - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)18 Aug 04
starstarstarThe reason you enjoyed the DVD recording was that two thirds of the original cast were performing. The recent cast changes reflect the lowering of the standard of performance which the critics below are talking about. I have seen both the original cast and the current cast and there is a big difference in standard. There are many people who love this show and they have been let down. I too saw the show on Monday and it was much better than it has been recently. James - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.147.99.194)17 Aug 04
starstarstarstarstarI love this show having seen probably every possible combination of cast over 19 viewings and really can't understand the attacks by the 1-star critics. Was also at the dvd recording. This is going to be one helluva disc to own. See the show, its FABULOUS! Mahni - USER: Whatsonstage.com (81.77.79.145)17 Aug 04
starstarstarstarstarI too was at the DVD recording last night... a completely cracking night out. This show is outstanding. I can't wait for the release of the DVD. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (81.77.79.145)17 Aug 04
starstarstarstarstarI saw the show on Saturday night as part of my trip to London, and enjoyed it so much i went back on Monday night when it was being recorded for DVD and the tickets were cheaper. Two AMAZING evenings of theatre!!! I haven't enjoyed myself so much in years. I can't understand these abysmal one star reviews - most saddening! Do yourself a favor go see this show and buy the DVD when its released. Both are utterly spellbinding! Donald - USER: Whatsonstage.com (81.77.79.145)17 Aug 04
starstarstarstarThe recent reviews in this section have not made pleasant reading. It's disappointing to hear that a show that made such an impact last year has just recently got such poor reviews from the people who have been seeing it. My husband and I have seen the show several times and think it's wonderful. But that's due to the talent of Stephen Triffitt, George Long and Mark Adams. I don't know who these new people are who have taken over but they've not carried on where Stephen, George and Mark left off. I hope that the show carries on, however, because we are going to start going back to see it and hopefully it will pick up. Irene and Phil - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.41)16 Aug 04
starstarSome shows like "Tonight's The Night" get better the longer they are on. And some deteriorate. Rat Pack is the latter. It's gone to the dogs. Strand Theatre is also very uncomfortable when its hot. No air conditioning and everyone was sweating on Saturday night. The bogs are awful. Not enough of them and long queues. Rude theatre staff ordering you about. And all this for a show that was nothing like as good as when we saw it when it opened this time last year. We came as a large group from Sheffield. It wasn't cheap, it was difficult to organise, but we were looking forward to it. They weren't the actors we knew and the fun had gon e from the show. The jokes died, the atmosphere was forced and the music while okay wasn't enough to make this a special experience. Very very disappointed. Perhaps the actors were the blokes they use out in the provincial theatres because they weren't good any of them. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.41)11 Aug 04
starWe went to Tkts agency and took a chance on this. I wish we hadn't. There are much better shows than this on in the West End and we wasted a Friday evening and although the tickets were cheap, they weren't cheap enough, although the show itself is cheap. Cheap, unfunny gags, dancers that had us in stitches they were so silly and bimboish, really bad overacting, a pianist who looked bored out of his wits, musicians who were talking amongst themselves, a cheap set, cheap costumes and three actors who look like they don't get on with each other. It looks like a show that's on its last legs. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)09 Aug 04
starstarstarstarstarHe is not the new Dean Martin. He is on a 3 mth contract. Ryan - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)06 Aug 04
starstarMy wife and I saw Rat Pack again last month. We are great fans of Stephen Triffitt but he looked strained and as though he was carrying the show on his own, which we think he was. This is not the show it used to be and we felt sad about it coming out. We'll go and see Stephen Triffitt's solo shows, but we won't go and see this again. The people in the show just weren't pulling together they were each doing their own thing and the new Dean Martin was way too dominant. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)06 Aug 04
starPitiful. That's the only way to describe this poor excuse for musical theatre which is essentially Karaoke nonsense for people with nothing better do do. Also has one of the fattest dancers on the West End showing rolls of fat in tiny costume. Who on earth cast this show? Whoever it was his head should roll. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)04 Aug 04
starDid ANYONE direct this show? Or did the actors just get cast, turn up for work and decide to improvise? What a mess. Peter Graves - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)03 Aug 04
starBoring. And the "Bourne Supremacy"? Don't make me laugh. The new Sammy Davis Junior out performed everyone on stage, but even he was only average. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)03 Aug 04
starstarFrom Mrs San Pietro, Vancouver BC Canada. We saw the Thursday matinee last week. It was all right, a pleasant way to spend an afternoon. The Sammy guy was the stand out. Sinatra guy had all the manerisms but the Dean Martin guy was not very good. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.34.25)02 Aug 04
starstarstarI can't see it either. In this reviews section someone, a fan, much lower down has been really slagged off by someone who doesn't like the show. But all that has been left on which is like defimation of character of a real person whose feelings must have been hurt. But when actors are involved, oh no, we can't have that can we because its all about business and making money and the opinion gets deleted. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.57.25)27 Jul 04

starDont think its the direction. I think its the cast. They just aren't pulling together or working as a team. starstarstarstarstarI saw an absolutely brilliant performance at Kew on Saturday and two out of three of the original west end cast were there. starstarstarstarstarRegardless of whether someone says this is fair or unfair does not alter the fact that it is what the paying public think that counts and whether a show is successful or not. Mark is a great talent and as men we look up to him and what he has done with this show. We were very upset about this cast change and we wanted to express this publicly. We are allowed to do that aren't we or is this a country where freedom of speech isn't allowed? We are not going to see this show again until Mark comes back. We are not paying money to see someone else do the role that he has made so successful. James, Ryan and Steve - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.147.99.194)11 Jul 04
starI saw this show on Friday evening for the second time. I understand tht the cast has recently been changed. This would account for the great disappointment I felt in the fact that two out of three of the leads were wrong for the part. The Sammy guy was just taking the mickey. And what was the guy playing Dean Martin on? These three men are some of the world's greatest entertainers and amongst us were people who saw them perform live and who loved them. Just very disappointed in the performances of Sammy and Dean. I remember seeing the previous Sammy and his performance was just breathtaking. And the former Dean Martin was obviously incredibly popular by the way he got cheered onto the stage. Wanted two third of my money back, although the Sinatra guy I liked a lot. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.57.25)07 Jul 04

starstarstarstarstarYes its true. Mark is returning for the Christmas shows and thank God for that. Finally the producers listened to our nagging about Mark. starstarI saw this show on Saturday afternoon and after all the hype I was rather disappointed in it. The show itself was well constructed, and driven well by the great music of the era but it was let down by a weak cast, in particular the Sinatra singer whose rendition of several of the songs in the second half was not very good. Michael N? was also not very good. Since when did Dean Martin have blue eyes? Attention to such details and accuracy is important. I thought his performance was lethargic. Like James Stewart on prozac. But I hear that they are understudies. Perhaps the main cast are better. Disappointed in this. £80 is a lot of money to pay to see your lifelong heroes not respected. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.147.99.194)23 May 04

starstarstarstarstarI saw the show for the first time last evening (20 May)and thought it was brilliant. The cast were all understudies to the main cast namely Andy Prior, Rowan Reckford,Michael Neilson. I have read some of the reviews from previous shows and can only assume that that Mark Adams must be superb because Michael Neilson was out of this world as Dean Martin. I will have to go back and see the show with the main cast members and make a comparison. Charlie B - USER: Whatsonstage.com (62.189.90.90)21 May 04

starstarstarHa ha!! I can't see it myself. But then I love Anything Goes. What makes The Rat Pack better? - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.57.25)14 May 04
starstarstarstarstarI don't think I am rowdy, loud or common and I love it, love it, love it. And although the show next door at Drury Lane is excellent, I would sooner be at The Strand every time. The audience at The Rat Pack is alive and vibrant and the cast feed off them. In fact I think that the Anything Goes audiences are too refined for their own good. Still PG Wodehouse has a gravitational pull for toffs, who are too frightened to let themselves go and enjoy themselves. If the audience from The Strand were put into a performance of Anything Goes then John and Sally and their wonderful hardworking cast would know just how much they are appreciated, which is what the Rat Pack audiences do for the brilliant cast at this show. Deanne - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.57.25)13 May 04
starstarstarThis show doesn't get the credit it deserves. People look down on it, largely I think because of because it attracts an awful lot of rowdy people, who don't think twice about what they shout, or who they shout it to. I saw it in January and I meant to write this then. The actors are all incredibly hardworking and talented, but I saw them wince at some of the things that were being shouted, they weren't enjoying it. It's the audience that drags this show down, the show itself is really good, but being amongst some of these people, especially some rather loud, common women, is not a particularly nice experience. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.57.25)22 Apr 04
starstarstarstarI had mixed feeling about what to expect from this show as some reviews had slated the show. I was pleasntly surprised at how good this show is. If you are going there to compare these hardworking actors to legends such as Deano and Ol'Blue Eyes it's not fair on them and you won't have fun. These guys are not Deano or Frank but they are amazingly entertaining. They have the mannerisms down to a tee and they improvise with the audience and yes these guys can sing. I am going to see this show again as I enjoyed it so much. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (194.203.94.162)19 Apr 04
starstarstarstarMy brothers and I like this show a lot and we don't really bother much with musicals. There will be a riot if Mark Adams leaves this cast before the end of the run, he is temendously popular. If Alex Bourne gets puts in instead, for whatever reason, the show will fail. They can replace the Sinatras, but they cannot replace our Mark. If they take him out of the show before the end of September, people will stop coming to the show and it will start losing a lot of money. I hope they listen to us fans and do NOT CHANGE THE CAST! George Long rocks too. He is our twinkletoes, we always whistle for George. And Stephen Triffitt blows everyone away with his voice, but if they take Mark Adams out of this show they are making a very big mistake! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (212.137.57.25)16 Apr 04

starstarstarstarstarWe got tickets from the booth in Leicester Square and weren't quite sure what to expect, but there wasn't much available. Totally surprised by how much I enjoyed this performance. A well thought out sassy show, much much better than the show that toured in the US sponsored by David Cassidy I think. This is the show that would go down well with us on Broadway. starstarstarA huge loss of face not winning the Best Entertainment Award at the Oliviers - particularly as they had the whole of their band there. But a lot of it is down to snobbery. starstarstarstarstarI knew The Rat Pack Christmas Show would really swing with the right crowd in and it certainly did on Saturday night (Dec 13). Never heard a reception like it at any other show. Everyone was on their feet at the end - the entire theatre. The noise was deafening in the stalls and the atmosphere electric. No other show in the West End creates this live rapport with its audience. The guys nailed the performance. It was perfect. Happy punters left the Strand, happier than those leaving 'Anything Goes' next door. They had a jolly nice time but we had a swell party. The show has changed a bit since I saw the first one two weeks ago at the Thursday matinee. Glad to see the Berelli Sisters have stopped their slaps. Grateful to Giselle for doing it the first time though. I'd spent the morning of that show in the hospital and I was blacking out during the second half. If I hadn't heard her slap Dean Martin I wouldn't have come round so quick! Well done everyone, you've really pulled this off. Deanne - USER: Whatsonstage.com (164.36.141.145)15 Dec 03

starstarstarstarstarRe the review below. I was at the matinee last Thursday (the first Christmas show) and I didn't see that at all. I see the show quite regularly and if there had been anything wrong I'm certain I would have noticed but I didn't. I didn't think he missed his lines, he's playing a drunk and that's what you saw. I also don't understand how he came across as abrasive. Cheeky, perhaps, but I have yet to see him have a nasty edge. If he does take that attitude, you can be sure the fans won't let him get away with it! Deanne Tager Smith - USER: Whatsonstage.com (164.36.141.145)02 Dec 03
starstarI took my mother and two of her friends to see the matinee show last Thursday. The actor playing Dean Martin quite clearly forgot his lines at the beginning and he said something which came across as abrasive in the second half. As Dean Martin is my mother's favourite singer she was rather upset by him, I don't know what was going on, but it didn't come across as very nice. We thought the Sinatra actor was excellent though. I felt a bit unhappy that the ladies hadn't enjoyed themselves as they were really looking forward to this and it wasn't a cheap outing. This is my mum's happiness we're talking about and it matters to me. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (164.36.141.145)02 Dec 03

I would have stood up and applauded you all yesterday, because you really deserved it, but there were a lot of miserable gits in the audience! It's going to be fantastic with the right crowd in. Two of the best parts are the dances with the swings "Too Close for Comfort" and "Baby It's Cold Outside". Finally, the girls get to show how talented they are - Nikki and Giselle are top talent. starstarstarstarstarWas initially worried this may be a case of The Rat Pack meets Stars in Their Eyes but these worries were soon gone. Stephen Trifitt and George Long came on first as Frank and Sammy but it was when Mark Adams, as Dean Martin, came on that the whole theatre came alive. How great to see a show where you know every single number. The banter between the three stars were the most electric. By the end of the show when the names of the three performers were announced, I don't think I was the only one taken by surprise, as we had felt we had been treated to a concert 'one last time' by the originals. All due to the excellent performers. Can't wait until I go again (and again!) - USER: Whatsonstage.com (195.93.34.14)29 Oct 03

starstarstarstarstarThe Rat Pack - Live from Las Vegas is the best musical in the West End. People leave the Strand Theatre happy. It is escapist entertainment but it shouldn't be dismissed lightly. George Daniel Long's performance of Mr Bojangles is a stunning piece of theatre. It's the whole thing. The movement, the meaning of the whole song and the emotion he puts into it. It moves me every time I see it. 'I've Got You Under My Skin', which the show rightly defines as "Cole Porter's shining hour" is one of the greatst love songs ever written. The band who perform at The Rat Pack - Live From Las Vegas comprise guys who have worked with Sinatra in concert. The musicality of the original Nelson Riddle arrangements has authentically been reproduced by Musical Director Barry Robinson, but the band have their own sound. You have to hear this band to appreciate how good they are, individually and collectively, it's no good taking my word for it. They support Stephen Triffitt's dazzling Sinatra without overpowering him. The undercurrent of this show is the constant stream of humour and the comic timing of Mark Adams as Dean Martin is faultless. The Jack Daniels flies from his glass so if you are sitting in the front row, as I was last Saturday, be prepared to get wet! I certainly got wet in the second half when Mark sat on the bar stool, but I enjoyed that - rather a lot. The comic participation of the audience heckling the stars makes this the 'live', interactive show that it claims to be. The stars are foiled by three glamorous swings who show the men off beautifully. What don't I like about this show? Sometimes too many grandads in the audience but the age range has broadened as the popularity of this show continues to gather momentum. The show has broken Box Office records at The Strand and there have been Full House signs outside the theatre on Saturday nights. Also, I don't like seeing the Sammy character being used as a fall guy - sometimes I hurt for him. Even Simon Cowell would like this show. He is interested in things which are popular and he admits that if he only had one CD to play at home he would choose Frank Sinatra's Greatest Hits because he loves great songs. This show isn't Stars In Their Eyes - it is much more than that. The bond between the fans and the show defies definition. We don't really know why the show works as well as it does but it hits the spot, every time. Deanne Tager Smith - USER: Whatsonstage.com (164.36.141.145)24 Oct 03

starstarstarstarstarI am not a groupie and when you are discussing opinions you dont attack the person you just disagree with their opinion, for example, your view on the RAT PACK being crap is completely ridiculous! One of the best show I have ever seen!!! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (217.137.88.100)07 Oct 03
starFriends with them? Are they really your friends or are they just humouring you because you are a good customer and you are making them very rich men. It sounds like you live in a fantasy world and definitely need to get a real life. Not only that but you are bringing the show into discredit. Stage door groupies are sleazy and I'm surprised that the cast of this show encourage you. I've seen this show once and I thought it was crap. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (164.36.141.145)07 Oct 03
starstarstarstarstarThe show is aboslutely brilliant!! I'm friends with all the cast and am VERY proud of them, all of them are absolutely superb!! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (217.137.82.17)06 Oct 03
starTWENTY TIMES??? People like you are called groupies. Do you hang round the Stage Door and offer the cast your sexual favours so you can be part of their inner circle? Get a life. The show isn't that great. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (164.36.141.145)06 Oct 03
starstarstarstarstarSeen it about 20 times and it just gets better and better!!!! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (217.137.82.17)04 Oct 03

starstarstarstarstarThe Rat Pack - Live from Las Vegas is the best musical in the West End. People leave the Strand Theatre happy. It is escapist entertainment but it shouldn't be dismissed lightly. George Daniel Long's performance of Mr Bojangles is a stunning piece of theatre. It's the whole thing. The movement, the meaning of the song and the emotion he puts into it. It moves me every time I see it. 'I've Got You Under My Skin',which the show rightly defines as 'Cole Porter's Shining Hour' is one of the greatest love songs ever written. The band who perform at "The Rat Pack - Live from Las Vegas" comprise guys who have worked with Sinatra in concert. The musicality of the original Nelson Riddle arrangements hasbeen authentically reproduced by Musical Director Barry Robinson, but the band do have their own sound. You have to hear this band to appreciate how good they are, individually and collectively. They support Stephen Triffit's dazzling Sinatra without overpowering him. The undercurrent of this show is the constant stream of humour and the comic timing of Mark Adams' Dean Martin is faultless. The comic participation of the audience heckling the starts makes this the 'live' show it claims to be. The stars are foiled by three glamourous swings who show the men off beautifully. What don't I like about this show? Sometimes too many grandads in the audience (see my flippant remark below), but the age range has broadened as the popularity of this show gathers momentum. I also don't like seeing the Sammy character used as a fall guy. I am probably more sensitive to black issues than some, and I know this accurately conveys the mentality of early 1960's America, but sometimes I hurt for him. Simon Cowell would like this show. He is interested in things which are popular and he admits that if he had only one CD to play at home he would choose Frank Sinatra's Greatest Hits because he loves great songs. starstarstarstarstarIts gonna mop the floor with Rat Pack Confidential!!! Lynda-Louise - USER: Whatsonstage.com (217.137.82.13)12 Sep 03
starstarstarstarstarThe Rat Pack is the best musical in the West End. The only trouble is three quarters of the audience are over sixty four, older than me by thirty years. The gentleman I sat next to last time I went tried to wolf whistle me when I sat down. But he had left his teeth at home, so instead of a whistle out came this weird sucking sound. It was pretty kinky. Deanne - USER: Whatsonstage.com (164.36.141.145)29 Aug 03
starstarstarstarstarDidnt think much of the women - who were wallpaper - but the three main stars were top notch. We'll be going again and taking some friends with us. - USER: Whatsonstage.com (164.36.141.145)26 Aug 03
starstarstarstarstarThe only thing that is wrong with this show is that for some weird reason all the house lights are turned off while the performers are on the stage so that the audience sit in pitch black darkness. Whoever made this decision should be shot. The success of this show is based upon the interaction between the cast and the audience. Turn the bloody lights on us!! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (164.36.141.145)26 Aug 03
starstarstarstarstarABSOLUTELY SUPERB!!!!! All three stars, George Daniel Long (Sammy) Stephen Triffitt (Frank) and Mark Adams (Dean) are all truly amazing!!!!!!!!! An absolutely brilliant night out!!!!! LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! - USER: Whatsonstage.com (217.137.102.8)19 Aug 03
