| Excellent!! The performances of Jochum Ten Haaf and Clarie Higgins are sheer brilliance!! I wish I had seen this play at the National Theatre where it had a more intimate setting, which could only enhanced this small quiet play. - USER: Whatsonstage.com | 08 Oct 02 | |

| The whole thing ticked along at a slow old pace but that's not a criticism. The strenght of the piece lies in the outstanding performances of Clare Higgins and Jochum Tan Haaf who were both very believable in their roles. The rest of the cast gave fine support. An intersting and enjoyable piece of theatre. - USER: Whatsonstage.com | 08 Oct 02 | |
| Excellent!. Very moving portrayals of both Vincent and Ursula. I would like to think that Vincent really did receive some encouragement as shown here. - USER: Whatsonstage.com | 25 Sep 02 | |
| Very engrossing and moving. Ten Haaf and Higgins are superb - their stillness is very effective and affecting. You could have heard a pin drop in the pivotal scene. I hope the film does it justice. - USER: Whatsonstage.com | 05 Sep 02 | |
| A beautifully acted and cleverly presented piece. All the actors giove of their best to provide the emotional ups and downs of this tale of art and love. - USER: Whatsonstage.com | 05 Sep 02 | |
| A lovely play, with some wonderful, well-judged performances. Jochum ten Haaf plays Vincent as a complex, selfish young man; tactless but certainly not without charm. Clare Higgins is superb - her nervy, moving and funny performance is quite mesmerising. Strong performances from the rest of the cast, especially Emma Handy as Vincent's sister. Highly recommended - and it's being made into a film, after its run at Wyndhams... Andrew B - USER: Whatsonstage.com | 05 Aug 02 | |
| I wouldn't cross the Atlantic for it. I wouldn't even cross Charing Cross Road for it. - USER: Whatsonstage.com | 30 Jul 02 |
