| I really enjoyed this superb, fun-packed, tongue-in-cheek, happy, uplifting, well-acted romp. For me it was an excellent antitode to recessive times! It brought to life what ordinary, not-so-intellectual Elizabethans will have enjoyed and has actually helped enhance my appreciation of Shakespeare. Yes, there is lack of literary quality and intellectual depth which gave it a critical low rating but the effervescent production resonated really well with me (and the audience on the night I went). So I give it five! - John Riley | 30 Jan 13 | |
| I saw the matinee on Sunday 27th Jan. I am a big fan of Early Modern Drama but after some of the negative reviews I was prepared to treat this as a purely academic viewing. There was no need to. It was hugely entertaining with good use of music and superb costumes which are cleverly based on an Elizabethan interpretation of medieval garb. The play is amusingly constructed and never takes itself seriously. It lacks the poetry of Shakespeare but so do many plays of this period. Great idea to give an airing to this forgotten but never dull play. - Barry Slade | 27 Jan 13 | |
| We went to see the play last night and have to say we thoroughly enjoyed it.Who cares if Sheakspeare wrote it or not,it was fun and light hearted, something to cheer us up in these dismal times. The actors put their all into their performances with great results. Well done. - Meg | 16 Jan 13 | |
| This was a great night out. A very intimate venue, where the action takes place almost in the laps of the people in the front row! The play, which is indeed a lightweight romp, is also very engaging. How exciting to be watching something that has not been performed for at least 200 years! I saw Wednesday's performance, which was fun, enjoyable and amusing. Ignore the critic, and have a good night out! - Rachel | 12 Jan 13 | |
| We're we watching the same play Michael? I'm afraid you might have gravely missed the point. My husband and I are avid Bard fans and realised very early on that this most likely wasn't his work, however, for what it was - a sweet and charming farcical play, performed by a brilliant ensemble of actors, who grabbed the piece by the reins despite its apparent limitations - it was thoroughly enjoyable and well worth a watch!!! - Juliette | 11 Jan 13 | |
| The main criticism seems to be that this isn't by the Bard. Talk about missing the point! In other news Sunday is the day before Monday. Yes, it's light and it's played as a farce, but what's wrong with that? It simply wouldn't work otherwise. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it's worth seeing for the costumes alone. - Charles | 11 Jan 13 | |

| Well I saw the production last night and thought it was jolly good fun. Perhaps we both saw different plays? Lots of laughter, humour and the acting talent was top drawer. A great pity that Mr Coveney is so bitter, perhaps he did not have a good day at mill before he went to see it. - Gavin Davis | 11 Jan 13 |
