| On paper Proof threatened to be a very dry discussion of obscure mathematical theory but actually it's a terrific play concerned with relationships and trust. Mariah Gale gives a superb performace as Catherine, a 25 year old maths prodigy who is scared that she has inherited her father's mental instability as well as his academic genius. David Auburn's play is very well directed by Polly Findlay giving it a production that feels like a Steppenwolf show and there is no higher praise than that. The only downside is the suspicion that the Chocolate Factory is getting a bit big for its boots - premium seating and extortionately priced programmes are not appropriate for what is still a fringe venue. - David Baxter | 01 Apr 13 | |
| A very interesting and different play and all so credible due to the very good cast. I liked the way it left it at the end to make as wander who actually wrote it all!!! - Joe Spiteri | 27 Mar 13 |
