starstarstarstarThe Notes From New York team continue to prosper and have now graduated to a short West End season. In truth The Last Five Years is not a great show. It's entertaing but slight and suffers because the parallel stories concept prevents any chemistry between the two characters apart from once when the stories intersect. However it does offer NFNY's two associate artists, Paul Spicer and Julie Atherton, the opportunity to prove again that there are no finer interpreters of American writing on the London stage. Hopefully their success will continue and they will be able to repeat this project because this was an extremely pleasant way to spend a Sunday afternoon. - David Baxter10 May 09
