Louise Dearman back in Wicked... as Elphaba?Date: 3 August 2012 Louise Dearman is on track to make Wicked history by being the first actress ever to play both witches, according to the Daily Mail. Until December 2011 Dearman had played Glinda, the good witch of the south, at the Apollo Victoria Theatre, but from 29 October 2012 is set to make the unprecedented switcheroo to the eponymously wicked witch of the west, Elphaba. Memorably originated by Idina Menzel on both sides of the Atlantic, Elphaba's role includes the enviable opportunity to sing fan favourite “Defying Gravity” as well as fetching green makeup. Alongside her previous stint as Glinda, Dearman's theatre credits include Kiss Me, Kate, Grease, Guys and Dolls, Cats and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Earlier this year she made a bid for chart glory by releasing album "Here Comes The Sun", and has recently been involved in workshop sessions for an upcoming West End musical version of Peter Pan. She was also a guest judge on @westendproducer's recent #searchforatwitterstar talent show, at which she refused to be drawn on potential future roles. In response to the rumours, the Apollo Victoria Theatre has taken to Twitter, saying "We cannot confirm or deny the rumour", but adding "we love Louise Dearman at the AV and she is always welcome, in whatever form it may be!"
