Hurly Burly burlesque succeeds RSC Bible play at Duchess?

Date: 15 May 2012

Unpack your feather boa. Burlesque artiste Miss Polly Rae and her six Hurly Burly Girls may soon be raising temperatures again in the West End. The Hurly Burly Show, the "all-singing, all-dancing burlesque-inspired revue" which played a limited season at the Garrick Theatre last spring, is tipped to fill the gap left at the Duchess Theatre by the early closure of David Edgar’s Written on the Heart. A Royal Shakespeare Company commission about the creation of the King James’ Bible followed by girls getting their kit off… What would the Archbishop of Canterbury have to say about that?

The Hurly Burly Show, which started life six years ago at the Soho Revue Bar, is directed by Kylie Minogue collaborator William Baker, with musical direction by Steve Anderson and choreography by Ashley Wallen.
