Mullin play gets Walk On Part in House of Commons?

Date: 22 February 2012

A Walk On Part, the play adapted from the diaries of former MP Chris Mullin, will stage a special performance in the House of Commons next week (28 February) following an invitation from Speaker John Bercow.

The evening, which will take place in The State Rooms for an audience of MPs and House of Commons insiders, will be hosted by Bercow and Mullin, whose diaries chart the ups and downs of his political career through the New Labour years.

The stage adaptation, which premiered last year at the Live Theatre Newcastle before transferring to the Soho Theatre (where it returns in March), is written by Michael Chaplin and stars John Hodgkinson as Mullin.

Considering the number of current MPs and other high-profile figures that feature in the show, it'll no doubt be a raucous affair - we just hope that Mr Bercow can keep order...
