Triumphant Jerusalem Returns to UK in Autumn???
Date: 15 June 2011

Jez Butterworth's Jerusalem will return to the UK this autumn following its Tony Award-winning run on Broadway, director Ian Rickson has today (15 June 2011) told the Guardian. Fresh from picking up his Best Actor Tony in typically eccentric style at Sunday's ceremony, Rickson also reveals that Mark Rylance will reprise his role in the Royal Court's acclaimed play. Currently on stage at New York's Music Box Theatre for an extended run through to 21 August 2011, the multi award-winning epic is billed as a “comic, contemporary vision of life in our green and pleasant land”.

Jerusalem won the 2010 Whatsonstage.com Award for Best New Play, with Rylance also picking up Olivier, Evening Standard and Critics Circle Awards for the role. The Office and Pirates of the Caribbean star Mackenzie Crook joins him in the New York cast having appeared alongside him at both the Royal Court and Apollo Theatre West End transfer last year. Dates, casting and a prospective theatre for the production have still to be announced, however the show's previous West End home, the Apollo, hosts the London return of Yes, Prime Minister from 7 July (previews from 6 July) for a limited season to 17 September 2011. Ian Rickson also directs Kristin Scott Thomas, Douglas Henshall and Ben Miles in Harold Pinter's Betrayal which opens at the Comedy Theatre tomorrow (16 June, previews from 27 May 2011).
