In announcing their new production company, Fiery Dragons, producers Luke Johnson, Raymond Gubbay and Edward Snape have today (6 June 2011) confirmed plans to bring Sheffield Theatres' production of Me and My Girl and a new sequel to The 39 Steps to the West End. Working alongside Fiery Angel, producers of shows including The 39 Steps, which celebrates its fifth anniversary in the West End this September, the venture is seeking £1 million of investment from "theatre dragons" looking to capitalise on the "recent success and growth of British commercial theatre". Fiery Dragons will co-produce the upcoming West End run of The Ladykillers.

Anna Mackmin's production of Me and My Girl played Sheffield's Crucible Theatre last Christmas, produced in association with Snape and Alex Armitage. First seen in London in 1937, the musical returned to the West End in the mid 1970's, updated by Stephen Fry and Mike Ockrent. The 39 Steps is the first in the series of a number of books by Scottish novalist John Buchan, who penned four more adventures for secret agent Richard Hannay between 1915 and 1936. Fiery Dragons aim to have their follow-up staged by spring next year.
