Pleasance Reunites with Oscar Winner David Seidler???Date: 1 March 2011As previously reported on Whatsonstage.com, Oscar winning film The King's Speech began life as a play, which was first read at the Pleasance Theatre in 2007 in front of an audience that included film director Tom Hooper’s mother. The rest, as they say, is cinema history. And the venue has now revealed that it will be working with the writer, David Seidler (who picked up the gong for Best Original Screenplay on Sunday), on his new play, details of which are as yet unknown. Anthony Alderson, director of The Pleasance, said: “It’s rare to get such a delicate and beautifully-written script such as The King’s Speech. Having read the script we knew had to do the reading and help the project grow and take shape … We look forward to providing similar opportunities for other new work at The Pleasance.” Related Content |
