Will Children's Hour be Next Across the Pond???

After receiving largely favourable reviews from UK critics this week, the West End revival of Lillian Hellman’s 1934 play The Children's Hour, starring Keira Knightley and Elisabeth Moss, could be on its way to Broadway later in the year. An insider told the Daily Mail's Baz Bamigboye that producers of the show, which is directed by Ian Rickson at the Comedy Theatre, are hoping for a transatlantic transfer later in the year. And if it does happen, the likelihood is that the starry ensemble, which also includes Oscar-winner Ellen Burstyn and Carol Kane, will go with it, following the recent trend for productions to cross the pond with their casts intact.
Knightley will certainly be hoping for an easier ride from the Broadway critics than her fellow film star Jude Law got when he took Hamlet to New York in 2009. The New York Times' Ben Brantley accused him of lacking subtlety and of mouthing words "like a town crier".
