Storm Brews Over Donmar for NT Live Lear???

Date: 4 February 2011

The NT Live broadcast of King Lear from the Donmar Warehouse hit a glitch last night – the weather. According to a spokesperson, the live transmission to cinemas across the country was “halted temporarily when heavy winds affected the alignment of the satellite dish on the roof of the Donmar”. Michael Grandage’s production of Shakespeare’s tragedy, starring Derek Jacobi, is only the second NT Live offering of a non-National Theatre production. The spokesperson told Whatsonstage.com that the situation was dealt with quickly and the broadcast resumed within minutes. The live performance was suspended so that cinema-goers did not miss any of the action. King Lear finishes its sell-out run at the Donmar tomorrow night (5 February) and then tours, from 22 February, to Llandudno, Belfast, Glasgow, Milton Keynes, Salford, Richmond, Bath and Truro, where it concludes on 16 April.
