Clybourne Park Races into West End Transfer???
Date: 6 September 2010

With a raft of glowing reviews, not least a declaration that’s it’s the “funniest play of the year” from the Evening Standard, it’s not surprising that a West End transfer is already being talked about for Clybourne Park, Bruce Norris’ new comedy, which received its world premiere at the Royal Court Jerwood Theatre Downstairs last Thursday 2 September 2010 (previews from 26 August). The production, directed by Court artistic director Dominic Cooke and starring Martin Freeman and Sophie Thompson, continues in Sloane Square until 2 October, after which it may be heading for the Theatre Royal Haymarket, though our chief critic Michael Coveney, wonders how those “hallowed precincts” will cope with some of the script’s more off-colour jokes.
