Barbara Windsor Returns to Musical Roots???
Date: 27 July 2010
As her role as Peggy Mitchell on BBC soap
EastEnders comes to an end,
Barbara Windsor is reportedly “looking at new options” and, more specifically, she’s said “I quite like the idea of doing a musical”. In fact, the musical stage is not new at all for Windsor. Though she hasn’t appeared on stage in many years, her early musical credits include
Twang, Come Spy Withe Me, Sing a Rude Song, The Threepenny Opera, Carry On Barbara! and, on Broadway,
Oh, What a Lovely War!, for which she was Tony nominated in 1965. Her play credits include
Twelfth Night and
Entertaining Mr Sloane. Ideas on a postcard – or, better yet, on
Twitter for new musical projects for our Babs...
