Sheridan Smith's last performance as Elle Woods in Legally Blonde will be Saturday 23 October she has revealed to fans on her Twitter feed. There has been no announcement about who will be replacing Smith, with producers stating that Jennifer Ellison was just one of the names in contention. Laura Bell Bundy who played the original Elle Woods on Broadway was also visiting the UK this week, joining Smith on stage for a post-show Q&A session.
With the changes in cast, performances will revert to a straight Monday though Saturday schedule dropping the Sunday show. Director/choreographer Jerry Mitchell is apparently returning for the new cast auditions, although many of the ensemble have shown interest in staying on. Paulette will definitely be recast as Jill Halfpenny is confirmed to be leaving (See Goss, 14 July 2010.)
