David Suchet Detects Poirot Stage Play???Date: 15 April 2010 David Suchet, who returns to the West End stage next month in Arthur Miller’s All My Sons, is considering a stage crossover for his most famous alter ego, Hercule Poirot, a part he’s been playing on television since 1989. Producers are keen but, in an interview with The Stage newspaper, Suchet said the debate is with himself as, for him, “Poirot has always been someone on the screen”. If it does happen, it will be an adaptation of one of Agatha Christie’s major novels featuring the Belgian detective, “a huge story with a fantastic set”. The last thing Suchet wants is “another whodunit to run for 30 years, we don’t want another Mousetrap”. In the meantime, All My Sons, which is directed by Howard Davies and co-stars Zoe Wanamaker, opens for a limited season at the Apollo Theatre on 27 May 2010 (previews from 19 May).
