NT Theatre Quiz Is Hard Habit to Break???

Date: 15 December 2009

It’s not panto but it is one of Theatreland’s Christmas traditions – and unquestionably one of Whatsonstage.com’s festive favourites. The annual Theatre Quiz at the National – in which two teams of performers compete with each other as well as the audience - takes place at 6.00pm this Friday 18 December 2009 in the NT Olivier. Now in its 26th year, up until 2001 the quiz was a battle between the National and the Royal Shakespeare Company. Since the RSC withdrew from its permanent London residency at the Barbican Centre in mid-2002, the National has fielded two in-house teams.

This year’s competition will be between The Habit of Art and Nation. For the Alan Bennett play, Alex Jennings will captain a team that also includes Richard Griffiths, Elliot Levey and Adrian Scarborough. For the Terry Pratchett adaptation, Jason Thorpe will captain Gaye Brown, Emily Taaffe and Gary Carr. Broadcaster Emma Freud returns as quiz mistress and Angus Wright, who plays the title role in The Cat in the Hat, will keep score.

Also look out for Whatsonstage.com! We’ll all be there on Friday night ahead of our own office Christmas party – we love it that much! Tickets are £3.50. Call the NT box office on 020 7452 3000 or book online via the theatre website.
