Kurt & Sid Set to Rock West End???

Date: 16 November 2009

Following a sell-out run at Trafalgar Studios 2 earlier this year, rumour has it that Roy SmilesKurt and Sid is looking to transfer to a larger West End venue in Spring 2010.

The play follows Kurt Cobain, lead singer and songwriter with Nirvana, as he falls into a crippling depression at the height of his fame. Assisted by his heroin addiction, his thoughts turn to suicide, and, somewhat surprisingly, Sid Vicious, the long dead former bassist of the Sex Pistols, turns up. Whether he is a ghost, a cheap impersonation or a figment of Kurt’s drug induced mind; the pair argue the glamour of addiction, rock and roll and ultimately, the terrible price of fame.

The original cast of Shaun Evans and Danny Dyer are believed not to be reprising their roles as Kurt and Sid respectively, however a new "all-star" cast is said to be taking their places. The play received largely favourable reviews when it premiered back in September, with Whatsonstage.com's Michael Coveney labelling Smiles' two-hander an "engaging duet" (click here for full review).
