Sam Kane for New Queen Musical???Date: 3 September 2001Actor and singer Sam Kane, star of Brookside and Coronation Street, has auditioned for the new Queen musical according to Teletext. Kane has described the production as being set in a future time, with a use of original storyline and songs similar to that of the Abba show Mamma Mia. Rehearsals will apparently start in February 2002 and go through to May, with a summer opening now likely. Kane was tried out in the part of sidekick to a wicked queen who hates rock music. However, the assistant is secretly a big music fan with his own plans for world domination. Kane regards what he has heard of the show as "sensational" and states that Queen's management, and guitarist Brian May, are involved with the project. Kane has several stage musical credits to his name, including, just launched, a major UK-wide tour of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers. Related Content |
