Kirwan Turns Dangerous Corner to West End???
Date: 23 August 2001
Dervla Kirwan, star of the BBC’s acclaimed
Hearts and Bones drama, looks set to be heading for the West End later this year. Kirwan is appearing in JB Priestley’s 1927 work
Dangerous Corner at West Yorkshire Playhouse from 7 September 2001, and the production is strongly tipped for a London transfer. Given the astounding success of Priestley’s
An Inspector Calls in the capital, the
Dangerous producers are doubtless hoping for a similarly prosperous run. The drama centres on the staff a family-owned publishing firm attending a social gathering. However, an apparently innocent remark, and a cigarette lighter, lead to a psychological mystery unravelling with a typically surprise ending from Priestley. Kirwan’s co-stars in the current version include Kate Foster Barnes and
Rupert Penry-Jones.
Dangerous Corner was first produced by Harry Moses at the Empire Theatre in New York City in 1932.
