Kavana Steps Closer to Heaven???

Pop star Kavana is being tipped to take over the lead role of Straight Dave, in the Pet Shop Boys/Jonathan Harvey musical Closer to Heaven. Kavana, whose hit singles include Crazy Chance and Funky Love, has recently attended the show and is believed to have been in discussion with the producers involved. The role is currently taken by Paul Keating, who has played the part of Boy George in a workshop of George's forthcoming Taboo. Keating has been with the show, which also stars Frances Barber, since it opened earlier this year. Kavana's pop potential was spotted whilst he was working as a tea boy in a recording studio. After the release of his self-titled debut album, Kavana headed to Italy to record the follow-up, entitled Instinct. Closer to Heaven opened at the Arts Theatre on 31 May 2001, and is now taking bookings up to 2 February 2002.
