Turner Coming Back to The Graduate???Date: 3 August 2001Kathleen Turner, who was the original Mrs Robinson in the successful West End production of The Graduate, is being tipped for a comeback in the show. Turner was the first in a line of top stars - including Jerry Hall, Amanda Donohoe and, currently, Anne Archer - to assume the role when the play opened in April 2000 and, if rumours are true, she could be back seducing West End audiences as soon as this October. The stage play is Terry Johnson's adaptation of Charles Webb's novel, which was later converted into a movie work by Calder Willingham and Buck Henry. The film was a sensation in the late 1960s, received seven Oscar nominations, and ensured enduring fame for its stars Dustin Hoffman and Anne Bancroft. Johnson, whose other plays include Hysteria and Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick, also directs the West End production, which is playing at the Gielgud Theatre. Related Content |
