Face in the Crowd Film for the Stage???

Walter Bobbie, the director behind the successful revival of Chicago, is believed to be adapting a classic movie for the stage. The film, A Face in the Crowd, was directed by Eliza Kazan in 1957 and marked the screen debuts of Andy Griffith and Lee Remick. Walter Matthau also starred in the story of a singing hobo who is transformed into a cynical television superstar. Bobbie is known to have already condensed the narrative into book form, and the composer Don Schlitz could well be on board for the project. Bobbie, who is also an actor, won the Tony Award for Best Director for Broadway's Chicago, which made two American tours and is currently running in London and around the world.
