UK Producers Looking for New "Significant Stars"???Date: 17 July 2001Amid predictions that the West End transfer of Broadway smash The Producers could run for at least a decade, comes the news that leading stars Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick are pretty much certain not to accompany it. David Ian, who will lead the UK production team, has predicted that the show could open in London at the start of 2003. However, Ian also believes that other commitments will prevent Lane and Broderick from being involved and that other "significant stars" will be approached. The Producers has already broken two notable records, having secured Broadway's largest ever box office advance ($33 million) and picked up 12 Tony Awards. No wonder that Ian is so confident of a mega run for the UK production, which is expected to begin rehearsals late next year. Related Content |
