Stage version of 84 Charing Cross Road???Date: 1 June 2001After successfully securing the international stage rights, producer Dominic Madden hopes to present a London production of 84 Charing Cross Road in the autumn, with James Roose-Evans directing. Like the book, the stage play is based on the real-life letters between a New York writer and a London-based bookseller. The stage version was first seen in the West End in 1981 and later transferred to Broadway. The tale also spawned a 1986 film starring Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins. Related Content |
