Liverpool Continues Once Upon a Time in London???Date: 11 November 2008 London theatregoers may soon have a chance to see the acclaimed Liverpool Everyman and Playhouse musical Once Upon a Time at the Adelphi. Commissioned by the theatre as part of its programme celebrating the city’s reign as European Capital of Culture this year and premiered in July, the new piece, written and directed by Phil Willmott, takes an irreverent look at the Liverpool’s iconic hotel in its 1930s heyday (See News, 12 Dec 2007). Last month it won Outstanding Musical Production in the regional TMA Awards (See News, 26 Oct 2008). This Thursday, it’s being given a private showcase presentation at the West End’s Trafalgar Studios, with a view to getting commercial producers on board to secure a transfer. If it does come to London, surely it’s natural destination would be the Adelphi Theatre on the Strand. That’s currently home to the revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, which has just extended its booking – post-Lee Mead – through to 18 July 2009 (See News, 6 Nov 2008).

"Once upon a time at the Adelphi" to the Adelphi Theatre in London!
I missed it in Liverpool, just as I missed the chance to work in the Adelphi Hotel when I was told at my interview there that I was over qualified for the job! Please let the musical be continued I would LOVE to see it! Is there a video clip of it in Liverpool? (a scouser in exile in Wales). Eva Coppock-Stevens - Eva Coppock-Stevens | 30 Nov 09 |
