Rory Kinnear Raises Hamlet Stakes at NT???
Date: 25 October 2007
Never mind
David Tennant and
Jude Law, who will take to the stage in new productions of
Hamlet in 2008 and 2009 for the Royal Shakespeare Company and Donmar Warehouse respectively (See
News, 11 Sep 2007). The National Theatre may be giving us another great Dane to look forward to. NT artistic director
Nicholas Hytner plans to build his own production around a title performance by
Rory Kinnear (son of Roy Kinnear), who’s been on a critical roll at the NT these past 18 months in Hytner’s productions of
Southwark Fair and
The Man of Mode and Howard Davies’ revival of
Philistines. Prior to his NT seasons, Kinnear played Laertes to
Ben Whishaw’s prince in Trevor Nunn’s “teenage”
Hamlet at the Old Vic in 2004.
