Donmar Has All the Luck in February???
Date: 31 August 2007
In 1944,
The Man Who Had All the Luck marked the late
Arthur Miller’s Broadway debut – and, given that it was a spectacular flop, closing after only four performances, it nearly marked his early Broadway demise. The play remained one of Miller’s least-known works for decades, until it was revived on Broadway, with much more success, in 2002.
According to the Daily Mail, it will now receive a major London outing come February at the Donmar Warehouse, where Andrew Buchan (from TV’s Party Animals) will star in a production directed by Sean Holmes. Buchan plays the title character David Reeves, a car mechanic blessed with almost supernatural good fortune.
There’s no official announcement yet from the Donmar Warehouse, although artistic director Michael Grandage is organising a press briefing, his first since taking over the post from Sam Mendes nearly five years ago, for 10 September 2007, when no doubt, all will be revealed.
