Pete Doherty Pens Kate Moss Musical???

Date: 9 August 2007

Babyshambles front man Pete Doherty isn’t the first name you might think of when drawing up a list of musical composers. But according to The Sun, the rocker – better known for his heroin addiction and his turbulent, tabloid headline-grabbing private life than his music – is hoping to conquer the West End. In an apparent effort to woo back his on-off fiancée Kate Moss, Doherty wants to stage a musical that the couple penned together.

A “friend” told the newspaper that, in addition to “writing poetry and songs”, Doherty and Moss “worked on ideas for a musical and made short movies together. Pete thinks it would be a waste if he scrapped all the material they created together. There is so much of it. The musical is something he was really into because it ventures outside of the borders of singing on stage.”

The source outlined the new musical’s plot as “a tale of two star-crossed lovers as they struggle though life”, and added that “when Pete is on stage or going to court, it is often like he is acting anyway so the two go into one". Are we to assume by that comment that Doherty wants to perform in the show as well? What a West End leading man debut that would make! Lee Mead watch out.
