Christian Slated for a West End Comeback???
Date: 7 August 2007
Ever since making his Whatsonstage.com Award-winning West End debut in
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest back in 2004 (See
News, 12 Aug 2004), Hollywood bad boy
Christian Slater has been tipped to retread the boards of London. He did in fact return briefly last year to revive his performance as Randle P McMurphy in
Cuckoo's Nest when the production returned for a limited season at the Garrick (See
News, 15 Feb 2006). But as yet the planned ‘new’ project, previously expected to be a revival of
Tennessee Williams’ 1959 play
Sweet Bird of Youth has not materialised (See
The Goss, 16 Dec 2004) - though he did get a Broadway dose of Williams appearing, at short notice, in a revival of
The Glass Menagerie there instead.
We now hear that Slater’s West End re-return is imminent, but it won’t be in Sweet Bird of Youth or another Cuckoo's Nest flight. Rather, the new play may draw more closely on Slater’s own knowledge of the intimated workings of Hollywood.
