Kelly Osbourne Makes West End Debut in Chicago???

Date: 27 July 2007

Reality TV star Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne, is tipped to make her West End debut soon in Chicago at the Cambridge Theatre, ahead of a possible stint in the Kander and Ebb musical’s Broadway production over Christmas. Interestingly, rather than either of the show’s lead murderesses, Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, the 22-year-old Osbourne is in line to play the part of prison matron Mama Morton, the dodgy-dealing mother hen to the girls, traditionally played by a much older actress. The celeb carousel musical is currently headlining as Billy Flynn former boyband Blue member Duncan James, who has just extended his stint in the until 8 September (See News, 19 Jul 2007).

Since finding fame on MTV reality show The Osbournes, with her parents and brother Jack, Kelly Osbourne has carved out her own solo career as an actor, presenter and singer. She’s released two albums - Shut Up and Sleeping in the Nothing - and recorded the Black Sabbath duet “Changes” with her father. Kelly’s mother and sister Aimee were due to make their West End debuts two years ago in Eve Ensler’s The Vagina Monologues but withdrew at the last minute following a family cancer scare (See News, 4 Oct 2005).
