Haymarket Establishes Resident Company????
Date: 2 July 2007
Is the Theatre Royal Haymarket going down the same road as the Old Vic. Once solely a commercial West End receiving house, like the Haymarket, since appointing
Kevin Spacey as its inaugural artistic director in 2003, the Old has programmed and produced its own year-round schedule under the auspices of the Old Vic Theatre company.
A rather cryptic invitation – to “the launch of the Theatre Royal Haymarket company” - received in the post this week suggests the Haymarket soon do the same. The existing Theatre Royal Haymarket Productions has frequently invested in shows coming into the building, earning co-producing credits. But the new name, and snazzy new logo, suggest this may be a more ambitious and wide-reaching initiative. All will be revealed on Monday 9 July so check back next week for News updates.
